We investigate online fraud aimed at Canadians.
Manufactured reviews, invented customers, awards from directories that do not exist yet, deadlines that reset every week. We document it case by case, from public surfaces only, with the evidence attached.
Mission
To protect Canadian consumers from online fraud.
Fraud in this country runs on trust signals a buyer has no way to check — a testimonial, an award, a five-star rating, a countdown timer. Each is cheap to manufacture, and the platforms carrying them have little incentive to look. We do the looking, publish what we find, and hand the whole record to anyone who can act on it: a newsroom, a regulator, a platform, or the next person about to enter a card number.
Who we are
A small group of Canadians working under the mikesploit brand. We are not journalists, and we are not a regulator. We are people who got tired of watching social platforms do nothing about fraud running openly on their own advertising, and decided that if nobody else was going to document it properly, we would.
We do this work the way we would want it done to us — public surfaces only, no hacked data, every claim carrying a timestamped capture and a hash, and every subject given the chance to respond before anything is published.
Cases
Every case we are working, with its stage and current status — including the ones still in disclosure, listed without naming the subject until they have had the chance to respond.
Support
We do not do this for profit and nobody is paid for the investigation hours. Donations buy time we would otherwise spend on paid work — and our first goal is $1,400, to register the project as a non-profit.
Contact
Corrections, right-of-reply requests, and press enquiries are welcome and will be answered. We would rather be corrected than be wrong. If you work in consumer protection, online fraud or platform integrity and want early sight of a case, say so.
